This gift is priceless and can never be taken away once you receive it. What is this gift? It is Eternal Life.

God wants you to have eternal life. But there’s a problem. We are born as sinners (Romans 3:23). What is a sinner? A sinner is one who by nature disobeys God. Have you ever done anything that you knew was wrong, like lie, lust, gossip, or hate someone? We are all guilty.

You need forgiveness for disobeying God but you cannot earn it. No matter how much money you give to the poor, how often you help someone across the street, or how frequently you attend church, these things or any good work you do will not earn forgiveness or right standing before God (Romans 4:4). Is there a consequence?

Yes. Have you ever felt that God was very far away? Well, there is a gap (chasm) between us and God because of our disobedience (sin). And because of our disobedience to God, there is a punishment. That punishment is physical death, and ultimately judgment to eternal suffering and separation from God. (Romans 5:12).

What’s the solution then? How do you become right to a sinless God? How do you gain eternal life?

God has provided the gift of eternal life through His Son, Jesus Christ. God allowed Jesus to suffer the punishment of death for you. He is your substitute. Jesus died for you. Then God brought him back to life to never die again. (Romans 6:23)

So what now? To receive the gift of Eternal Life from God you must place your trust in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice alone for the forgiveness of your sin. You must “confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, then you will be saved.” Once you do this, you will receive the gift of Eternal Life from God. (Romans 10:9-10)
